Dell to distribute Solaris OS

Its a great news for all, after Sun celebrated 1st anniversary of Java being OpenSource, here comes another good news.
_________________________________________

Dell to distribute the Solaris OS on select Dell PowerEdge servers

Solaris OS and Solaris Support Subscriptions are an excellent choice for Dell PowerEdge server customers who have applications that demand reliability, security, scalability, performance and integrated virtualization.

Dell is simplifying its customer experience by making it even easier to acquire an integrated Solaris-based solution and support by offering Solaris on or with its systems from the factory.

The agreement between Sun and Dell gives Solaris customers an expanded option of pre-configured systems from which to choose, and enables Dell customers to leverage the advanced security, virtualization and scalability features inherent in the Solaris OS, and a simplified buying experience to get an integrated solution with extensive backline support.

Noise-cancelling headphones

Noise-cancelling headphones reduce unwanted ambient sounds by means of active noise control. This involves a microphone, placed near the ear, and electronic circuitry which generates an "antinoise" sound wave with the opposite polarity of the sound wave arriving at the microphone. This results in destructive interference, which cancels out the noise within the enclosed volume of the headphone.

Keeping noise low at the ear makes it possible to enjoy music without raising the volume unnecessarily. It can also help a passenger sleep in a noisy vehicle such as an airliner.
Retail noise cancelling headphones typically only cancel the lower-frequency portions of the noise; they depend upon traditional noise suppression techniques (such as their earcups) to prevent higher-frequency noise from reaching the interior of the headphone.

Such headphones can be purchased at cheap rates on : http://wize.com/headphones/ . It’s a great one stop place for varity of headphones .

Desktop shortcut for locking computer

If you use your computer in an area where others may have access to it, and there are things on your system you would rather have kept confidential, locking your desktop when you leave the computer is an essential task. Here's a recipe for a desktop shortcut that will lock your computer in two easy clicks:

Right click on an empty area of the desktop and choose 'new' then 'shortcut.' The create shortcut wizard will open; in the first text box, type '%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation' and then give your shortcut an appropriate name on the next page, and hit 'finish.'

You will notice that the shortcut you created has a blank icon. To select a more appropriate one, right click on the shortcut and hit 'properties.' In the 'shortcut' tab, click the 'change icon' button.

In the 'look for icons in this file' box, type '%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll' then click 'ok' to see a range of icons for your new shortcut. Choose an appropriate icon. Your desktop locking shortcut is now ready for use. Test it out.

It’s quite useful if you have a password protected account.

Booting time trick in linux

Booting Time Trick

Edit file using this command "sudo gedit /etc/fstab"
or "sudo vi /etc/fstab"

This will be your second line.
# "file system" "mount point" "type" "options" "dump" "pass"

NOTE : see option.
For Fat32 it is defaulted to 1. ext3 is defaulted to 2.
1 or 2 means that it will check this file system for errors. 1 or 2 is priority order.
0 means skip this file system for errors.

Make it "0" so that ubuntu skip these partitions for check.
Don't do this for other ext3 partitions.

Doing this atleast saves for 15 to 45 seconds.

Now using this trick my system boots in 30 secs.

Mac games and more

Mac Games and More is to recognize and publicize the work of independent Mac developers, the people who rarely get noticed.

So, the main intention of Mac Games and More is to support the work and creative minds of shareware developers, game developers and Mac products, as well as appreciate the work of Apple Games, its computers and all its hardware, software and peripherals .

Playing Mac shareware games and using shareware software in general, is one of the best ways to see the work of some of the most innovative and imaginative people in the shareware industry. These developers work hard and make their shareware accessible and affordable by allowing you to download the game or software, which means saving you a trip to the store, or having extra cd's and boxes to further pile up on earth.

Another positive characteristic about shareware companies is customer service. Generally, if you have a problem or question, you can contact the developer directly and usually get a response immediately. An ACTUAL human being will contact you (Not an unhelpful automated robot response).

The information and game downloads and software downloads here will grow and change as they find more and more hidden gems. There are several categories of free Mac games such as Action and Arcade and Shoot em up. There are Puzzles for all ages including Pre-K and up as well as Strategy and RPG games and you'll also find clones of games for Galaga and Tetris as well as others. Mac Mahjong is also fun to play .

From the shared folder dialog: (right click on desired folder\sharing and security\).
