Why Buy a Digital SLR Camera?

Photography has come a long way since the days of the dark room and the idea of having to wait for the perfect moment to capture an image. In the modern day, it’s possible to take as many photos as you like, whenever you like.

Photography has been revolutionized by the digital age, and new technology allows users to really make the most of their equipment. Not only has taking great images never been easier, but digital SLR cameras can also allow users to become more creative. Here are just a few reasons why more and more people are turning digital:

Flexibility

One of the most compelling reasons to consider buying a digital camera is that it gives budding photographers more flexibility. Instead of being restricted to just 24 or 36 stills on a non-digital camera, users can keep snapping away to their heart’s content until they fill up the card reader. Card readers are also an efficient and effective way of taking lots of photographs at any given time.

Users can take hundreds of photographs at the touch of a button with faster shutter speeds, as seen on a number of Canon digital SLR cameras. Film, on the other hand, is limited, and amateur photographers could find it an expensive process.

Convenience and expense

The cost of buying both digital and film cameras can run well into the hundreds. But in the long run, digital cameras could be more cost effective. As the digital market has overshadowed the film camera industry, the cost of film has become increasingly expensive, particularly with specialist films. In addition to this, a number of outlets no longer develop film cameras, and those that do are considerably more expensive than developing digital prints.

Digital prints are easy to develop, and in most cases simply involve loading them on to a computer and printing them off. A number of supermarket stores even have digital printing machines, allowing users to directly insert the card reader and print. Developing film, however, is a much more complex process. Should users want to take this on themselves, they would need a completely blacked out room, specialist solutions, paper and equipment to create perfect prints.

Editing

A number of leading digital SLR cameras have settings that allow photographers to make changes and edits. This is not possible on a film camera, and editing may involve scanning the photograph into a computer and using software. With a digital camera, users can upload photographs directly to the computer.
