Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo : Features, Review & More

Korean manufacturer Samsung has come up with yet another phone, moreover a phablet, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo. It is the sibling of Galaxy Note 3 the difference being Neo is priced a bit low as the processor has been dropped from 2.3 GHz to 1.6GHz with the other features offered are more or less the same.

Let’s indulge into the specifications and features of Galaxy Note 3 Neo and see if the price of 40,900 is worth the device.

The Display and Features

The new Galaxy Note 3 Neo has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED HD display having a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Although we expected a full HD display but we also expect a little downgrade at some of its features when the price is reduced.

The phone is coupled with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which can be upgraded to KitKat. It has a 2 GB Ram which looks after the multitasking department.

S-Pen offers same functionality as we have seen in Note 3. As you take the S-Pen from the device you can find the Action Memo while Scrapbook, Write Screen Pen Window, Write Screen and other S-Pen Specific applications can be used. Also, features like, multi Window, Easy Clip, My Magazine, S Voice, S Health, S Note, Group Play , Smart Scroll and Smart Play are kept intact.

Looks and Connectivity

Faux leather back is provided like Note 3, it gives the phone a more corporate, elite and a premium finish look. The S-Pen is neatly integrated at the side of the phone into the rear end.

The connectivity offered offers almost everything in the form of 3G, HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth4.0, GPS/ GLONASS and NFC thus covering almost all the modes of connectivity and communication.

The Processor and Battery

As I have already mentioned, the processor is bit less than Galaxy Note 3 and stands at 1.6 GHz quad core processor. 3G is supported over the processor, the user also gets a choice to select his processor with a hexa core 1.7 GHz Dual core and 1.3 Quad Core Exynos processor with LTE support.

The battery is very good at 3,100 mAh which works 12 hours with a medium usage of 3G, a medium graphic game and other applications like Facebook, Outlook, etc. A rigorous usage will make the battery last for up to 10 hours depending the heaviness of applications used. As compared to other smartphones the battery is commendable.

The Camera

Galaxy Note 3 Neo offers an 8MP rear camera along with a LED flash and BSI sensor, thus the amount of light captured is more thereby improving low-light performance. The camera also supports 1080p of video recording. The front camera is 2MP and also has a BSI sensor. In all, the Camera is pretty decent when the price is taken into consideration.

The Storage

There is 16GB of internal storage and an expandable memory of up to 64 GB, the memory can be expanded via microSD card. Of the available 16GB, 5GB is taken up by Samsung’s pre-loaded applications and the remaining 11 GB is available for use which we believe is enough for normal usage and anyways the expandable memory is present to fulfill intense space needs.

Conclusion

My verdict would be Galaxy Note 3 Neo priced at 40,900 is a decent substitute for Galaxy Note 3 when price needs to be compromised a bit.
