More Tips to Help You Ace Your Online Course

In the previous part, we’ve talked about the three tech tips to help you thrive in an online course. Online degrees are quickly becoming the norm these days, especially with more students fresh out of high school choosing to continue their studies online. There are more courses to choose from, especially now that top names such as Rutgers Online are expanding their distance learning programs.

In this article, however, we are going to take a closer look at more tips that will help you complete a social work with seniors course with ease from start to finish. Let’s get started, shall we?

The Right Tools for the Job

Before you start your first semester, always make sure you have the right gadgets to help you complete tasks and tackle challenges more easily. For starters, you need to have a capable laptop by your site. A laptop is the best way to go since it will allow you to study for the online masters in social work or other degree you’re taking from just about anywhere.

Of course, you also need a working internet connection. There are two ways you can have internet connection at any time. You can use a capable smartphone for tethering, or you can pick up a MiFi (Mini Wi-Fi) from your favorite mobile provider. Both methods are equally effective, but the latter should be more convenient.

Last, but not least, you need the right apps to support you. Aside from note-taking app such as Evernote, having a copy of Microsoft Office 365 installed will help you complete course assignments faster. The rest of the tasks should be manageable, especially since online courses now use great learning platforms filled with resources.

Time Management Is Key

We all know that the biggest challenge in taking an online course in fields such as social work with seniors is time management. Unless you can allocate sufficient time for studying – and stay consistent with the schedules you have set – you will start running into issues as you go along. Allocating at least an hour every day is a good place to start. This will allow you to use that hour for working on assignments and reviewing the course materials.

A good way to get around distractions is by using apps that help you focus. Focus, the famous productivity timer for Mac, is available on the Mac App Store. It is the perfect app for the job, since it will block access to distracting websites and other apps while you study for an hour.

Boost Your Search Prowess

One last tip we will cover is related to doing research. You will be doing a lot of research and browsing through many websites and resources when studying for the course and completing assignments. Fortunately, you have Google as your friend.

Take the time to brush up on some advanced Google search techniques and you will be able to find any information you need within seconds. You will also have access to thousands of papers and books as you learn more about the subject you’re taking. Better search prowess, along with the previous tips we talked about earlier, will help you complete the course without breaking a sweat.
