Lava Iris 406Q : Features, Review & More

Lava, an Indian mobile phone manufacturer is surely on a launching extravaganza with a number of phones being launched in the market one after another. This time it has come up with Iris 406Q. Lava has been following somewhat similar to the Motorola way; the all new Lava Iris 406Q is available on Flipkart and it gaining lot of attention.

Being a budget quad-core smart phone, let us look at its features and decide if it is doing justice to a price tag of 6900 INR.

Look and Feel

The phone is decent looking with curve edges, buttons located at the correct positions to make it easier to use and navigate. Lava has offered IML in mold labeling for the back cover protection thus making Iris 406Q scratch resistant.

Display and Features

Iris 406Q is a dual SIM smart phone, the screen is 4 inch WVGA capacitive touch infused with Twisted Nematic display technology. The resolution boasts of 800x600 pixels.

The connectivity offered is all the available connectivity options such as Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS.

The operating system is coupled with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which is soon to be upgraded to 4.4 KitKat upgrade.

Features like battery Guru are nice tools available to enhance battery life and Audio Plus gives a surround sound to the phone with a wider bass and 3D effect while wearing headphones.


The camera is a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, zero shutter lag, 4X digital zoom, a high performance HDR and a VGA snapper at the front for video calling perspectives.

It contains 5MP rear camera (with LED flash, HDR mode, 4x digital zoom, HD video recording) and 0.3 megapixel VGA front-facing camera. Given the price we consider camera pictures really good.


The storage is 4 GB internal memory with up-to 32 GB expandable, as the apps are likely to take up the 4 GB internal storage it is advisable to take a micro SD card for personal usage.


Lava’s Iris 406 Q is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. This lets a smooth functionality of the apps used and games played. Also, the phone is coupled with 400 MHz Adreno 302 graphics engine for a high-end glitch-free gaming experience .Also, the Operating System is Android v4.3 Jelly bean and is promised to be upgradable to KitKat Android v4.4.


The battery offered is 1700 mAh Li-ion battery delivering a decent backup to the handset of up-to 24 hours of talk time.

The phone is priced at INR 6900 but you can find the best price for this phone across all Indian stores here, the phone is a pretty decent buy if you are looking for a cheap smart phone yet want to show off as the processor is capable enough of handling games like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 4 and Dead Trigger 2.
