Samsung Galaxy Tab A and Tab E: Review, Features & More


Samsung has yet again become the talk of the town by launching two new ranges of tablets in India. The tabs are called Tab A and Tab E; they are all set to carry forward Samsung’s bequest of smart media devices.


Both the devices are designed, keeping in mind different preferences of consumers by having varied resolution, display, sizes and much more. Let us have a sneak peek of devices and know more about them.

Build and Design

Tab A and Tab E are offered in a single body design with matte finish at the back and glass at front.

Tab E is bigger than Tab A where the former measures at 149.5x241.9x8.5mm weighing 495g while latter measures at 137.9x208.4x7.5mm and weighs 320g.


Both the tabs offer 5 megapixel rear cameras which are placed neatly on the top of Samsung’s logo. Tab A and Tab E have similar placement of hard buttons. SIM and micro SD slot placed on right side and two push buttons are present at the back which turn display on and off on attaching a flip cover on it.

Both tabs are similar yet different in looks, Tab A has a metallic bezel finished on slightly curved back while Tab E is almost parallel in design with slightly tapered bezels.

Display

New Galaxy tabs offer different display, Tab A has an 8 inch screen size having XGA TFT display with resolution of 768 X1024 and an aspect ratio of 4:3. Dissimilar to that, Tab E houses a much bigger screen of 9.6 inch offering WXGA TFT display on screen resolution of 800 X 1200 and 8:5 aspect ratio.


Tab A and Tab E both have decent displays with vibrant colors and correct viewing angles. This gives a pleasant feel to look at the screen.

Specification

The tabs offer great multitasking and battery backup is pretty decent when we played heavy games on it. Tab A is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz Snapdragon Quad-Core processor backed with 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage. On the other hand Tab E is stronger in build as well as power as it houses 1.3GHz Spreadtrum Quad-Core CPU, 1.5GB RAM with 8GB. External memory of both the devices can be stretched up to a maximum of 128 GB

Operating System

The smaller one, Tab A, is bundled with latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop; while the bigger one is made quite fun to use with better TouchWiz on Android Kitkat 4.4.

Parental Control

Samsung tabs are greatly used for education purposes and parental control app lets parents decide what their child sees on tab.The parental control mode is password driven and displays only file content and apps which are allowed on the mode. The user can easily switch back to normal mode by entering the password.

Camera and Battery

As already mentioned both the tabs have same camera configuration having 5 MP camera at rear and 2 MP front camera for purposes of video calling or taking selfies.


Since both tabs have same camera, the picture quality is same and very decent when comes to being a picture clicked from a tab.

The bigger one, Tab E, is charged by 5000mAh battery, while smaller one, Tab A, has a smaller battery of 4200mAh.

On an optimum usage both the tabs stayed alive for a period of more than 72 hours.

Pricing and Availability

There has been quite a brain workout for Samsung to price the tabs at their best. Considering the features they offer along with excellent hardware configuration, Tab A is priced at Rs. 20,500. Also, with Tab A one can get Galaxy gifts worth 30,000 on the app store for all genres such as Entertainment, eBooks, Lifestyle and Utility Apps.

Tab E is priced at Rs 16,900 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

Conclusion

Available in colors of White and Smoky Titanium, Galaxy Tab A is excellent for people who are looking for a handy tab with great configuration. While tab E is a grandeur version in a lower price and better battery life. Needless to say, both have excellent voice and video quality over 3G and 4G and is appreciated by users nationwide.
