Top 5 Things : Asus Zenfone 5 Camera with PixelMaster Technology

This blog revolves around a smart phone camera technology “Pixel Master”. It was developed by ASUS and was first launched last year in PadFone Infinity, this year you can find this technology in Asus ZenFone series like Asus ZenFone 5.

Pixel Master provides better images by combining hardware, software and optical modules. This year Pixel Master has been revamped, so let’s have a look at its new five key aspects.

1. Low Light Mode

As the name of the mode suggests, it enables you to take clearer and brighter pictures in low light. This technology can be found in ZenFone 5 and 6 and works by combining multiple pixels using image processing algorithms. When you click a picture, the background algorithms work in a way that they increase light sensitivity by up to 400% while color contrast is boosted to 200%.

If you have read about this process somewhere, you are probably right, as this framework is used by Nokia also in its PureView image sensor.

PixelMaster takes clearer images in low light but decreases the picture resolution, 8 megapixel front cameras takes 2 megapixel photo, while 13 megapixel rear camera takes 3 megapixel photos.

The low light mode is not only supported for taking pictures but also to take videos. Digital electronic image stabilization also helps in getting better pictures in low light.

2. High Quality Imaging Hardware

ZenFone has launched two midrange products ZenFone 5 and 6, but the imaging hardware used is not ordinary, ZenFone 5 has Sony BSI CMOS sensor while the ZenFone 6 encompasses of Panasonic BSI CMOS sensor

Both of the before mentioned sensors have pixel size of 1.12µm, this is quite exceptional when we compare it with smartphones of similar price range. Products with higher price range like Samsung Galaxy S5 has similar pixel size. .

Apple iPhone use Largan lens and so does ZenFone 5 and 6, this is a 5 piece lens and takes cleaner, sharper and better pictures. It's lens has IR cut filter which is responsible for better color accuracy and uniformity, also the lens has an aperture of f/2.0 which improves low light sensitivity.

3. Depth of Field Mode

This is my favorite mode; it lets the pictures to be captured in sharp isolated type set against a blurred background. When compared, some high range phones with some of best camera quality, the pictures from ZenFone out of this mode is better than LG G Pro 2, Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5. This feature in ZenFone takes two pictures after pressing shutter button and you get a choice to focus only on either foreground or background.

Since it is the era of Selfies, it has become more than a fag to a trend; the ability to take good selfies is also an art. The brand ASUS has made an effort for better selfies

The rear camera in all the phones of ZenFone series has the ability of automatically detecting a selected number of people and begins a countdown before clicking three pictures. Just select the best shot out of three and share it in social media tagging all you buddies.

5. Time Rewind

Time Rewind is a features which is similar in working to Time Shift features in BlackBerry 10 OS. It takes multiple pictures before and after the shutter is pressed; this give better chance to get the perfect moment shot.

To state it precisely, Time Rewind starts recording two seconds before and one second after the shutter button is pressed. During this time frame of three seconds a total of 31 pictures are taken.
